Course Outline

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support. This qualification is also offered as Traineeship and is also Government Funded under the Skilled Assure Supplier (SAS).

Course Details

  • Academic Requirements:

    There are no prerequisites for this nationally recognised qualification.

    Admission Requirements:

    There are no barriers to entry based on age (other than post school students over 16), gender, social or educational background. Students need to be able bodied and have the physical capacity to undertake the practical application of the program.

    Student should have foundation skills at the ACSF levels listed below. This is tested during our Pre-training review. Each student is required to complete the Language, Literacy & Numeracy assessment to determine what level they are currently working at & if they are suitable to proceed with this qualification. Where students do not have skills, they may be provided with additional support to develop their literacy and numeracy skills to this level if appropriate, or alternatively they will be provided information on other more appropriate courses.

    USI Requirements:

    Learners are required to comply with Evidence of enrolments at the time of enrolment at time of enrolment with ONCALL Training College. Students are required to provide appropriate forms of IDs to confirm their eligibility to enroll in this course. Students are required to apply for unique student identification (USI) number while their study period in Australia and this information will be handed to the students at the time of orientation.

    IT Requirements:

    This qualification requires a basic understanding and use of computers and the internet. Support will be provided as required to develop the students’ skills.

  • You may be eligible for credit towards courses in your program if you have already achieved the learning/competency outcomes through previous learning. This learning could be gained through a formal qualification, non-accredited training or on the job learning at your workplace, also known as recognition of prior learning (RPL).

    To be eligible for credit towards a course, you must demonstrate that you have already completed learning that is:

    • Current

    • Satisfies the learning/competency outcomes of the course

    • Nationally recognised units of competency

    Costs

    There are no fees for credit transfer applications. The recognition of prior learning (RPL) fee is $500 per unit. For more information, please refer to the Credit Transfer and RPL policy and procedure.

  • This qualification may be accessed by direct entry.

  • To successfully achieve the CHC33021 – Certificate III Individual Support (Ageing and Disability), fifteen (15) units must be completed which are made up of:

    • 9 core units

    • 6 elective units, consisting of:

      • all Group A and all Group B electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability).

    All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

  • Workshops run from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm on Mondays at our Nunawading campus.

    This course will be delivered using a blended delivery methodology. The blended methodology employed by ONCALL Training College will include an intensive face to face classroom training session including a theoretical and practical component along with on-line and self-study.

  • As part of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) there is a mandatory requirement to obtain practical placement. Students often find placement hard to source and difficult to manage. Because of this, ONCALL Training College leverages our industry-based contacts to coordinate work placement for students where they will complete 120 hours.

    This practical placement will not only assist in developing work-ready skills, but will also help to consolidate the skills and knowledge for some units.

  • This qualification requires a basic understanding and use of computers and the internet. Support will be provided as required to develop the student’s skills.

    All students are required to wear enclosed shoes and appropriate work clothing.

  • The Assessment methods used in the assessments are:

    • Portfolio of Evidence

    • Case Studies

  • ONCALL Training College offers support services to any students who have questions or difficulties regarding the training as well as their future career development. Students with disabilities are encouraged to enrol in the course and will be appropriately supported.

  • Employment opportunities could include training and support to promote independence and community participation, which may be provided as part of activities and programs in a variety of settings, including residential and centre-based programs.

  • ONCALL Training College offers you a Payment Plan, which enables you to pay for the course over its duration. Your first instalment is required as part of the enrolment process. Following commencement, you will be debited electronically each week until the completion of your payment plan.

    Payment Plan:

    Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) (15 equal payments, total payments $4,500)

    Fee for service paid over $300 weekly instalments

    1st Payment $300 at enrolment

    2nd Payment $300 one week after first workshop

    Each subsequent payment of $300 will occur every week to the completion of the payment plan.
